Having faith in God's work

So many different ways to be a missionary!  Some just worry about numbers and others realize there is more to it than that.   I love that my son recognizes the need to help people and keep them active and going to church...not just baptizing and forgetting about it!

Herro. well my last birthday on the mission passed. it was kind of cool. A girl asked my comp if she could hug me. yay for being american. He told her no so she kissed my hand instead.....Im not quite sure which is worse. It wasnt my fault. It was unprovoked. So we baptized Paulo. It was pretty cool. Its not like we really did anything. He came almost prebaptized. But the ward has befriended his family really well. Like they have FHE and parties all the time and his family is loving it so they will probably get baptized too. I cant think of anything really cool that happened this week. It was kind of normal. I have some videos that im trying to send to you guys but they are to big to send through email so ill have to do something else.

My comp is the man. We had a zone meeting and everybody was just talking about all the problems and the zone leaders were like your numbers are crap and you guys arent using faith in the work and my comp and my district leader were like which is more important, how many contacts we do or how many people we help? and my comp went off about how everybody has more faith in numbers than they do in God helping in the work. It was awesome cuz our district doesnt have bad numbers but we didnt talk about problems, just that all we are doing differently is working with more faith to find people than worrying about numbers. Our district is awesome. Unfortunately the transfer is only 5 weeks and im almost positive that my comp is leaving cuz hes been here for 6 months. :(

All is well!

I love when he starts his email with ALL IS WELL.  That is comforting as a mother!  This week is Kyle's birthday.  He turns 21.  Wow my children are growing up.  I love and miss him so much, but I'm so grateful for his love and sacrifice for his Savior.

basically all is awesome here. We have 2 baptisms this week. One that will go on a mission in a year so thats pretty cool. We havent taught him everything. He knows everything already. He researched everything for like a year so we dont do anything with him. We asked him if he knew what the word of wisdom is and he was like yeah its this this this and this right? and so we kind of just let the members get to know him and be his friend. we had 12 investigators at church yesterday. Which means we are that much closer to baptizing a ton of people. Its funny how its all working out cuz like we arent working like running around teaching. We focus on talking to members and helping the few investigators we had a bunch of people go to church.
Like we arent really worried about our numbers. Our district doesnt care what we do as long as we baptize. Its pretty awesome cuz we all joke around and have fun all day. Its a pretty cool ward.

Thanks for all the love and support. I was thinking about it and conference is coming up quick and then its mothers day so we get to call home soon. Crazy how time flies like that. Karch goes home in like 6 months, kyle siddoway goes home in like 5 and tyler goes home in like 6 too. Well love you guys

Adjusting to his new area

Kyle was really stressed last week because he got transferred and he wasn't very happy about it.  Luckily, he is adjusting.  I asked him how far away his new area is from his last area.  I knew that it was in the same state.  Enjoy...

Im just on the other side of São Luís. It really isnt that far away, like by car i gonna say like 30 minutes. Bus its super far, but a member drove me here. My new comp is the man. He might be my favorite comp. Hes Brazilian, Elder J. Oliveira. we have the same vision as missionaries and everything. We live with 2 other missionaries. I think its the best living situation ive had on the mission. All of us are working but everybody is really chill and relaxed. We have alot of fun at home its awesome. We have this really cool outdoor shower that if the wind blows the sheet that covers the door and everybody gets a pretty nice view of me getting my shower on. We have a shower indoors but once youve showered outside you never go back. At night you can shower and stargaze all at once. yeah it sucked leaving my last area but ill get over it. My new ward is pretty cool. I dont know the people very well yet but everybody is nice and everything functions.
The bishop is like really motivated. If we need anything he does it so thats pretty cool.

So we have this super cool investigator. hes 18 and hes been researching the church at his house for like a year and finally got the courage to go to church by himself 2 weeks ago. Hes joined LDS chat rooms and like studied. hes the man. we asked him if he wants to serve a mission and he said yeah I just dont know how. So basically all we have to do is baptize him. we have alot of people ready to be baptized that we just need to work with them a little bit. We spent last week just organizing things. The area has alot of potential it was just disorganized a little bit.

Im sending a package home this week. Somebody called the president and complained about lack of receiving packages so now we receive mail 2 times per month. So the package should get here at least a little quicker. School supplies are super overpriced here and pens suck. I dont know why but its like impossible to get good pens here. They all break leak or blow up. Weird stuff that I dont understand.

Well I hope everybody is good. Tell colin and nathan I said hi. I forgot our address so I cant mail letters until im sure but love you guys byeeeeeeee

Pictures!!

Kyle sent pictures!!  I put money in his account so he could get pizza on his 1 year mark.  Pizza in Brazil is very expensive so they NEVER get to eat it.  He was very excited and sent pictures.  The other pictures are of the service project he has been doing with his ward.

Two weeks of email!

Sorry I'm a slacker and didn't get last weeks email on the blog.  Below is his email from today and from last week.  I told him we had the missionaries over for dinner and we called them ahead of time to see what they wanted to eat...they chose pizza!!  I was excited because it was so easy.  I also asked him how his interview with the mission president had gone.

you should always ask the missionaries. I like it when people ask us what we like to eat. Im trying to get people to make more meat. Its always chicken, Im getting really tired of chicken. I would kill for a good pizza or some cheap fast food. Its too late now but with the next package you send send more seasoning packets. Dont send more spaghetti, I have way too many and its too hard to make. Send the Pesto and others like that. It saved my life a few times.

The interview was good, It was about 45 minutes long and it was good.
We talked about alot of things and I gained alot of respect for him.
Hes a good President we just didnt get off on the right foot.

we havent gone to the coke factory yet, it was closed for renovations and this week was Carnaval. It was awesome, we had to get home at 6 and clean! I spent 2 days just cleaning the kitchen. It was really dirty. But now our house is super clean and we still have until wednesday to say at home.

Tell Nathan happy birthday for me. Im working on sending a box home.
Ill find something here to send him. And ill send something for Colin too. Its hard to find time to hunt these things down but we have a mall in my area so Ill look around.

Everything is pretty good here. We are working hard and we have some baptisms coming up. Hows the family doing? Rora is always stupid fat and ugly. Tell her if she dies before I get back I wont ever talk to her again. Ruv you guys byeeeeeee

LAST WEEKS EMAIL:

I should get my package tomorrow. The zone leaders were in Teresina last week and I think they brought it. We get the mail tomorrow. Im trying to send pictures but it isnt working :/ I have good pictures to send. We had a service project saturday. It was the same one we did last week it was just finishing. but I took my camera this week and took pictures. Im also recording things to send to you guys. I took a video of our house and the service project to show you guys.

Well this week was pretty normal. This week is going to be horrible.
its Carnaval. A giant party for like 5 days. They are putting up stages everywhere and its gonna be a week of large alcohol consumption and not a good week to be working as a missionary. We have to go back home at 6 but we are gonna leave our area at about 4 to get back on time. All the parties have already started. I think its kinda cool I just dont want to be working in it. Nobody wants to talk about god this week. And they like to throw flour in peoples faces. Why? I dont know. Well thats about all ive got for you this week. Next P Day I will be making a tour of the Coke factory. They give you tons of things for free. and you drink all the coke you want. There will be pictures. and I will more than likely die from drinking so much coke.
love you guys byeeeeee
